French
The French Department at Swanmead School is managed by Mr. James Barnes. The ethos of the department is one of fun through learning in a variety of styles. Mr. Barnes is a subject specialist having spent many years living and working in French-speaking countries.
Students are taught in mixed-ability groups in years 5&6, and are then set according to ability in years 7&8. The core textbook used is 'Equipe Nouvelle, but this is used as a reference only. We work in close liaison with Wadham, and equip our students with the skills necessary for the challenge of GCSE's in languages.
