Science
Science at Swanmead is taught by 2 science specialists with a fully equipped laboratory. There is always an emphasis on developing an interest and enthusiasm for Science through plenty of fun activities. The investigative 'hands-on' approach reflects the importance that the department places on children finding things out for themselves.
Children are naturally interested in the world around them. They love to make sense of their environment, both the natural one and the one created by man. Science extends that natural sense of enquiry by encouraging pupils to predict, measure and order their observations.
As they progress through the school, children are encouraged to plan, carry out and report their findings in their own words, and to develop a good presentational style. These are all crucial life-skills that will stand them in good stead as they develop into young adults.
